Pivcon Releases PMP Office Module

Pivcon is pleased to announce the release of a new module to the Pivcon Management Platform called PMP Office.

The PMP Office module is designed to extend the PMP capabilities and reliability into the Administrative/Faculty Office environment.  The new module adds additional features necessary for environments where long term retention of data and settings is needed but there is also a desire to easily fix and reset computers using PMP's snapshot features when they have problems due to user error, software problems when users installing their own software, and the scorn of adware/malware.

Key Features:

  • Freeze the computer image after you do the per-user/location configuration on install (local printers, user-specific software they ask you to install, etc.).
  • The system creates a differencing disk which then holds all changes the user makes.  This is a persistent differencing disk, unless a technician/administrator configures the computer to remove it.  The end-user can not.
  • Automated daily backups of Windows files to a special local backup partition on the hard drive.
  • Optionally have wWndows backups copied to a NAS.

Key Benefit:

The key benefit is that when the user has problems on the computer that are not easily fixed, you can:

  • Restore files from the backup if that is all that is needed.
  • If the computer has been infected or has registry corruption or any other issue that makes you desire a reload, you don't have to do a complete reload but can achieve the same result.
  • You can simply remove their differencing disk and it will go back to the per-user, frozen state at the time it was installed.
  • You can then run the restore application and selectively restore components from their profile and hard disk up until the last backup (or you can choose an earlier backup) to get them back to where they were before the problem started.
